Home and doing well

My gallbladder surgery got bumped in the morning to afternoon, but we were still home by 3:30!  It was the easiest surgery thus far.  I had a great young doctor, Dr. Paul.  Great bedside manner and great surgeon.  I was in and out in no time. I actually have no pain, other than my sore throat from where the tube went down.  While we were up at the hospital, just waiting, we did walk around outside–with me dragging my IV pole.  The gardens out front of Baptist were designed by P. Allen Smith, and they are very nice and peaceful with fountains, benches and an enclosed space.  They had a few tulips, but they need a bit more color. Lots of families and patients were enjoying them though, so they are serving their purpose.

Thanks for all the email well wishes and e cards.  Other than canceling a few things this week, I should be back to the usual schedule by Friday. My doctor said I could even drive today–as long as I am no on pain meds, and I am not! I probably will stay home today though and just rest and read.  He said I could lift a milk jug in each hand.   See why I like this guy!

I think I have slept more this week, than I have in years!  Gallbladders must really wear you out when they go bad.  The doctor said mine was “angry”, so glad it is gone.

So gald things are going well. Thanks goodness for surgeries today!! When I started nursing
way back in the last century, gallbladded surgery was a 10 day stay in hospital.
Do well and good to know you are on the mend.

All these young whippersnappers know a lot these days. Without the beard he would be a Dougie Houser– again from last century.

So glad you are doing so well! I am sure this downtime will really help the healing process. Hope you can sit outside and recharge your solar panels! Take care!
