Natchez Day 3
Today was a full day. We had a full line up of speakers, trade show, and tours. Once again, I bought plants and my room is smelling quite nice with my night blooming jasmine. This afternoon we had a thunderstorm roll in right as we are about to start doing our plant walk. It didn’t deter any of our Master Gardeners, they put on their rain jackets, put up their umbrellas and trekked on. We saw some lovely gardens and unbelievably we saw datura, vitex, and bear’s breech (acanthus) in bloom. Gardenias and oleanders were in bloom everywhere along with hardy alstroemeria, daylilies, amaryllis and crinum lilies. We also saw a garden loaded with tropicals with gingers, bananas, palms, and rice paper plants. The erythrina was in full bloom and we saw pawpaw, figs and kumquats. The rain cleared up and thankfully it cooled off making the walk quite delightful.

Stunning plants and varieties, exiotic and marvelous. I would love to see this place in spring…wow, the marvels. I loved the old homes (palaces)…ha. Please, if you have a chance to snap more homes, it would be wonderful, though I know you went with the idea of sharing plants with us! I bet you wouldn’t trade your job for an indoor one for anything in the world. You have a lot of driving and teaching, but you also have thrills galore of seeing lots of places some of us only dream about for a vacation!
Hey Janet, I was thinking about you since it’s G2B time. I guess we are other places! Hope all is going well. Great blog post.
