County 76

January 22, 2013
by

I awoke to no home uverse, which means no interrnet, no phone and no tv. Thank goodness for i pads and i phones or I would have been more lost.

Today was our first MG County 76 quarterly meeting and we had great attendance. A lot was accomplished. We should have the awards applications out soon, there are 3 slated Advanced MG classes, and leadership training is slated for Sept. in conjunction with MG day at Garvan Gardens in Hot Springs. We are working on our 25 th ‘MG birthday celebration (oct 14) and we want a lot of items for the state mg conference silent auction. We will take non-perishable or non plant items in advance to be ready early, so start gathering items. Money raised helps defray costs for leadership. I also left my camera at home and tonight I have tried sending i phone photos with no luck. Rosemary has great items for you to buy and we did training on the online web reporting.

Once home, Still no uverse! They called my cell phone to tell me we were back up and running a few hours ago, but unfortunately, that isn’t true. Tomorrow is the Green industry and Turf grass meetings in Hot Springs and hopefully I will once again have home uverse. Isn’t it sad how much we rely on technology? I am also blessed to have an ipad!

AT&T says it is working to fix a problem that has caused some customers to lose U-verse service.

The extent of the blackout wasn’t immediately clear, though there were scattered reports of problems in Little Rock, North Little Rock and in several other states in the Southeast.

A spokesman for AT&T issued an e-mail statement in response to questions about the scope and cause of the outage, though few details were included.

“A limited number of AT&T customers in some markets may be experiencing issues with U-verse service,” Anita Smith said in the message. “A team of engineers and technicians are working to resolve the issue, and we apologize for any inconvenience to our customers.”

A second statement issued about 2 p.m. indicated the problem was “with a server that supports U-verse.”

“The issue has impacted a limited number of customers in some of our Southwest and Southeast region states,” Smith said. “We have been working around the clock and are making progress on resolving the issue.”

There was no indication when the service might be restored.

Seems the outage virus that Comcast had a couple weeks ago has spread to Uverse.

Apparently AT&T is so big that “limited” now means “every U-verse customer in the former SW Bell & BellSouth regions” (unless your gateway hasn’t asked for a new IP address since yesterday afternoon, an ever-shrinking exception). Over 12 hours now in midtown LR with NO end in sight.
