A Long Drive

March 12, 2013
by

We left our wonderful hotel in Panama City to drive to the mountains in a town called Boquete. When you saw our luggage collectively, you would think we are staying a month. We got loaded up and left the hotel by 8:30. It was a 6 hour drive, but with bathroom stops, lunch and a native roadside stall, it took closer to 9 hours. We also had to go through a police checkpoint and the police came on and checked all our passports. I asked if I could take his photo, and he was quite pleased and posed for me! Our bus driver is Rauol and he is very patient, but really likes his horn. It got a bit warm on the bus until we left the hot cityand headed up. The temperatures here are quite cool and our rooms are lovely. The grounds are also quite nice.

We have had our dinner and an early night. Tomorrow we have an optional early morning birding experience, and after breakfast we go to a farm, have a cooking lesson then to an orchid farm.
