Happy Valentine’s Day!

It was a full, productive day, and wasn’t the weather glorious? I had the air conditioning on driving home from Pine Bluff and wore shirt sleeves outside to work in the yard, but snow, sleet and ice are predicted for later tomorrow. Welcome to Arkansas weather!

This morning I drove to Pine Bluff for the annual Home and Garden Show. Last year they had one of their lowest attendances due to icy weather, but today they had huge crowds with the balmy weather. There were numerous vendors, along with educational exhibits from many of the divisions of extension, including FCS, 4-H, storm water, and our plant pathologist was there from Fayetteville. pine bluff home and garden show.15.01

They had great educational seminars and their signage throughout the show was wonderful. pine bluff home and garden show.15.05 They had a quilt show along with a drawing for a chicken coop, complete with two chickens. pine bluff home and garden show.15.02

They also had great vendors, with some of our favorites, including the funny farm–don’t his new designs look like jellyfish? He will be at the Arkansas Flower & Garden Show next week as well. pine bluff home and garden show.15.07

It was a slow drive home with a wreck in the construction zone that delayed things by about 45 minutes. As always, a few drivers think they don’t have to wait their turn and kept trying to bypass all of us waiting in line. I don’t understand that mentality! I got home to lovely roses and a new piece of heart art for my collection from my husband. valentines gifts.15.01The Jefferson County MG’s also gave me a fantastic goody bag full of stuff! What a treat.
We made it home in time for me to water all my plants outside to prepare for the upcoming freeze. The pansies and violas are doing greatpansies feb14.15.1, along with stunning helleboreshellebores feb14.15.5

By the time the chores were finished, it was time to leave for supper club. We have not been as regular in recent months so it was fitting that we got together on Valentine’s Day. Martin and Aurian outdid themselves and we had a feast. supper club feb14.15.01 - Copy

All in all, a great day. The wind is whipping outside and the temperatures are dropping. Let’s hope the forecasts are wrong!
