Dirt Friends Festival and home

March 14, 2015

Although the sun wasn’t shining when I got up this morning, it wasn’t raining in El Dorado. We saw glimmers of sunlight on the drive into the seminar, but it remained overcast. The Union County Master Gardeners had a great turnout for their annual garden seminar and trade show. They had good vendors, including our own County 76 dirt friends festival el dorado.15.6 and a packed house for the seminars. dirt friends festival el dorado.15.7 They had more great food and give aways, along with plenty of informational exhibits as well. dirt friends festival el dorado.15.1

Mrs. Garvan was even on hand both in person and in print! verna garvan2 and to think she passed away in 1993, she sure gets around!

Before we drove to the seminar, I had Bob follow me to a quick stop at the South Arkansas Arboretum which is a fabulous project of the Union County MGs. south ark. arboretuam mar.15. The gardens looked good, although like most, a bit behind in their growing schedule. We did see some columbine that was growing, columbine foliage.mar14.15. and they did have some winter damage on ardesia, but it will bounce back with a little haircut. P1050678

After my presentation I stayed for a bit and then hit the road to finish getting ready for tomorrow. It didn’t start raining again until I hit Sheridan and then it continued most of the way home, and guess what? It is still raining! Hopefully it will have stopped by tomorrow. I think I have everything set, and I am off to bed!
