A wonderful trip!

October 11, 2015

A vacation does not have to be elaborate, or long-lasting. We had a wonderful, fun-packed 3 1/2 days starting in Albuquerque and on to Santa Fe and back. We packed a lot into a small amount of space and had a great time. It was helpful the weather was delightful. I think sometimes we are too focused on traveling out of the country when we have so much to see and do in our own country–and what a diverse landscape we have! The vistas were amazing as were the sunsets and sunrises. sunset albuquerque (5)

The people were friendly, our accommodations were lovely and we saw art everywhere. I will say, they value their art and there were stores, galleries and just pop-up stands wherever we went. art museum santa fe (2)

We did not see any of the balloon activities last night, but did see an amazing sunset. We had an early arrival at the airport with what we thought was extra time, but we were glad we went early. Southwest Airlines computers were down nationwide and the lines were pretty impressive. Luckily we had printed out our boarding passes the morning before at our hotel so all we had to do was check luggage, but it was not pretty. All of the folks who had their tickets on their phones didn’t work–they had to get paper copies so it took time. Many were missing their flights having not prepared for the extra time. We were worried our luggage may not make it with paper hand-printed luggage tags, but I guess old-school ways still work. While we were about 15-20 minutes behind on both flights, we were home by mid afternoon. The promised rains in LR did not seem to materialize much while we were gone. My yard was dry, so I spent the rest of the afternoon unpacking and watering. It is great to travel, but good to be home. Back to work tomorrow!
