Faulkner County and more celebrating

October 14, 2015

Today I drove to Conway to work with a graduate student from the UA in Fayetteville. She is doing her thesis on pollinator lawns–a new approach to including early spring bulbs in a lawn, and then wildflowers or low growing perennials in the summer. It should be an interesting experiment and I can’t wait to hear the results. I left that meeting and drove to the Faulkner County MG monthly meeting. They have outgrown their old digs, and are now in the adjacent Baptist Church. They had a great turnout of members. I was there to help present some overdue lifetime member name badges and give a MG birthday hello.

They are an organized group. In addition to the birthday cake, they had 20 year shirts made for their members–Faulkner county was not one of the original county programs, but they are growing and going like a well oiled machine. faulkner co meeting.oct15.1

Before heading back to the office, I stopped in to see the Legacy Gardens at the old extension office. They still look good this late in the season with some gigantic roses and many blooming perennials, shrubs and annuals.

I made it back to the office in time for the Arkansas Flower & Garden Show board meeting, then tonight Julie and Beth took me out for a late birthday celebration–April was my birthday, but we decided to have a 1/2 year celebration! What fun and a great meal at Terry’s Fine Dining in the Heights–and they will be happy to know I forgot to take a picture!!
