Volunteer hours

Master Gardeners, you only have 10 days to get your volunteer hours reported for 2015. I know that many of you work tireless hours volunteering for our program, and they never get reported. Volunteer hours matter. We compile them and it goes on reports that are sent statewide and to the federal level which helps to show the impact of our program. Take a few moments to report. If you can’t access your online account, you only have two days left to ask for help, since our office will close for the holidays on Wednesday. Every county has a record keeper at the county level who can enter hours for you if you can’t. Please email them and tell them what you have done. I have had Julie compile the reported hours as of today and we have 16,468 less volunteer hours than last year reported, and 12,541 less education hours and 73 less volunteers. REPORT! reoports

Montgomery County emailed me and they have all their hours reported for all their members as of yesterday! Way to go Montgomery County.

I spent the day shopping and dealing with holiday traffic. I am not the only person who has taken off. traffic-jam Although it wasn’t quite that bad, at times it felt like it. LOL. While I don’t really need to be out, it would not be the holidays if I wasn’t getting some last-minute things for stockings, or this and that.

But in the rush of the season I found this saying in an email today which I thought was quite profound: Real joy, real peace, and real love is seldom wrapped, rarely arrives through the chimney, and is generally not found under the tree.
Sometimes they arrive as an old friend, a gentle snow, a new love, a family tradition. They also arrive through the least likely of packages. They can grow out of financial woes, flight delays and personal struggles. And they typically are birthed when no one is around to notice.

This Christmas week, take pause to open up and celebrate all of the amazing gifts of your life.
John O’Leary

If you have not heard of John O’Leary, his story is pretty amazing. A friend shared a link and I have been following him ever since. He cuts to the heart of the matter and makes you stop and think.
So to my family and friends, my co-workers and the wonderful volunteers who I also consider friends, today, I pause and celebrate all of you who have been an amazing gift to me and have made my life so much better. package
