Planning

January 5, 2016
by

It was a cold day–with a low of 27 and a high of 44– it feels like January. As I left home this morning, my herbs were frozen frosted plants jan5 (2)

frosted plants jan5 (3) as were the winter vegetablesfrosted plants jan5 (1) but they all looked fine by the time I made it home tonight. When your plants are frozen, try to avoid contact with them, as frozen plants can be quite brittle. It looks like from the forecast that today was the coldest day of the week.

I spent the morning in the office trying to write. This afternoon was the first Arkansas Flower & Garden Show board meeting of 2016. afgs board meeting jan.5 (1)

afgs logos (2) Can you believe the show is 25 years old?! We started out at the old Robinson Center and now have the entire Statehouse Convention Center. What a success! It will be a real celebration this year and we hope you will be a part of it. We have wonderful gardens being designed, an excellent line-up of seminars on Friday and Saturday and kids events on Sunday. We also have some new features this year–a Friday night special event from 5-7 and some Make-n-Take Floral Art Classes on Saturday. More information about all events can be found on the website: http://argardenshow.org/

Of course, Master Gardeners will be there in full force and UA Extension will have a large display with experts to answer your questions and give you gardening advice.
