The streets are for the most part clear, but the yards and decks are still pretty covered in snow. Today was an overcast day, so we still see quite a bit of snow. snow jan.163 Most of the taller branches have now melted but the lower plants still are pretty covered. snow jan16.161

Tonight was our supper club. This group of friends have been dining together now for over 20 years. We are not as regular as we once were, but when we are together it is like old times. We enjoy each others company and there is always a good meal. Whoever hosts, does the whole meal and we often try to outdo each other. It was more intense in the early years, and it just gets easier as we have done it so often. I enjoy trying new recipes and things that we wouldn’t eat on a regular basis. supper club jan 16.2 Having an extra day off to prepare made this one even easier. I made a fun puff pastry tart puff pastry tart jan16.1611

Then it was slow braised short ribs, mashed potatoes and fresh green beans, and a chocolate, salt carmel tart for dessert. It was a good meal and even better conversation. We are blessed with great friends. It was a great evening.
