Today was opening set-up day for gardens only at the Statehouse Convention Center in preparation for this weeks AFGS event. This extra day was added last year and it really cuts down on the stress of large displays, and judging from what I saw today we have some mega-displays, one larger than I think we have ever had. afgs day one garden set up 2016 (30)

Scharidi, Mark and Randy and I worked on the Extension section and got things plotted out where everyone will set up. afgs day one garden set up 2016 (1)

hall tree feb (2) I think I like my hall tree better than this vertical garden, but time will tell.

Mark and I made a run to buy supplies and got drenched in the process, and I only got a portion of the plants. Tomorrow, hopefully the rain will wind down and we won’t get any measurable snow. I do have to report that the main annuals we found in bloom today were pansies (which is good) but more summer impatiens!!(which is not good). They also had tomatoes and basil–not good choices this early either. afgs day one garden set up 2016 (4)

Tomorrow we should hopefully finish our display so we can be out-of-the-way before all the booths start setting up on Thursday. It promises to be a great show, so mark your calendars!
