Trebah Gardens, Newquay and trivia

September 7, 2016

After a morning breakfast we loaded up and headed to Trebah Gardens, a sub-tropical 26 acre garden. Halfway there, I realized I had pulled a Jean Ann–I left my purse with phone, camera and money sitting on my bed in my room. Robyn called the hotel and they went and got it and stored it safely for me at the front desk, so disaster averted. The collective village came together and loaned me a camera, paid for my lunch and items from the gift store. Sometimes it takes a village.

We had two excellent tour guides who led us through the gardens in two groups.

The internet is incredibally slow again tonight, so pictures will be posted on facebook.

This garden had plant collections from all over the world. From trees and shrubs, to annuals, perennials, bulbs and tropicals, there were great plant collections. They had a grove with hundreds of hydrangeas in all shades of blues, purples, pinks and red as well as white. It was a good hike from top to bottom and back up but all along the walk there were interesting plants. We had time for lunch before heading back.

We were back by mid afternoon for some time to explore before meeting up for dinner in town.

After dinner a team starting with 11 and dwindling to 9 stayed to play trivia. Team USA (Big  Rock Gardeners)did us proud. We came in 3rd place out of 25 with the help of Neville our bus driver and some young Rugby players who helped us with songs. A bit of a late night, but great fun.

Nothing posted last night,so here it is this morning.a few pictures but more are posted on facebook.
