Landscape Day at Garvan, then planning in Ft. Smith

September 29, 2016

A full but beautiful day. I got to Garvan to set up for the annual Landscape Day for the Arkansas Green Industry. They rotate where this event is held, and Garvan was the host this year. There were great sessions on the Arkansas Diamond program, beekeeping, planting for bees, edible landscaping and an update on crape myrtle bark scale which is spreading like gangbusters. Our own agent Robin Bridges presented edible landscaping and Jim Robbins did the update on scale. I presented on bee plants and Jeremy Bemis did bees while Jennifer Gibson did Ark. Diamonds.

After lunch two Garland Co MGs gave a tour of the gardens, then some folks headed to Reynolds Greenhouses.

I had to miss the tours as I had to head to Ft. Smith for a 2018 planning session. It was an interesting drive from Hot Springs to Ft. Smith a route I have not driven before.

It was a full and productive day and what glorious weather!
