Mississippi Celebration Day 1

October 11, 2016
by

I was up and on the road early to get to Verona, Mississippi for the first of 4 regional 25th MG celebrations. There was a good crowd at the North Mississippi R & E Center. The Miss. Director and station director both spoke and praised the work of the MGs. Then Lelia presented some histoty and statistics. I spoke on new plants and they ended with a quiz bowl competition.

I can always get ideas for our own state by listening to what others are doing, and today was no exception. We also had time to walk the research plots around the center before we started. They have vegetable and ornamental trials.

I think we need some of this at our state office! We loaded up when the session was over to drive 4 hours south to Hattiesburg. Our session is here tomorrow afternoon, so we plan to see more gardens first. I am going to see more of Mississippi than I have seen before. Can’t wait.
