A Glorious Day in DC

The weather could not have been more spectacular today. After breakfast we all had different agendas. Chris and I went to the botanical garden. There were lots of people in town with the holiday weekend but not too many folks at the gardens. The gardens were spectacular with great fall color

And berries galore.

The outside gardens were great, but the inside plants also had the wow factor.

Many unusual specimens. Then we walked around by the capital  where they are already setting up for the inauguration.before catching a taxi out to the national arboretum.

The gardens were a riot of color. It was also a great day for walking (over 9 miles before our day ended!)

We had an interesting time finding a taxi back to the hotel, but we finally did.

After a great lunch we toured the national portrait gallery.

We went back to the hotel with time to freshen up before a dinner event hosted by former Arkansans who now live here. They prepared a fabulous meal for 35 Arkansans who have traveled here for the wedding.

On the way home we stopped in at the Lincoln Memorial. What a treasure it is! We weren’t the only folks with this idea.

It has been a great day!
